Calling All Chalk Artists!
Remember the fun of drawing on sidewalks with colorful chalk? The Holiday Chak Walk allows you to channel that creativity—this time, with prizes!
On Saturday, November 23, as part of the Heart of the Holidays celebration, join the fun and showcase your sidewalk chalk art. The contest is open to all Chalk artists.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Adult artist
Youth Artist (11 and under)
Youth Artist (12-18)
Team/Family - max. 4
People’s Choice Award Winner
Chalk will be provided, and participants must use only the chalk supplied to ensure fairness in judging. The contest will occur in front of the Hampton Inn on 4th Street. On-site registrations will be accepted as sidewalk space allows. A notice will be posted on social media if all spaces have been filled before the event date.

Contest Schedule
10:00 – 11:00 a.m. | Artist check-in and registration (artists may begin work upon check-in)
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Competition artists create work and open work time for the public in designated space
3: 00 p.m. | All competition work must be complete
3:00 – 3:30 p.m. | Judging of competition work
3:30 p.m. | Announcement of winners and presentation of prizes
Rules and Guidelines
Holiday Chalk Walk artist registrations will be accepted as sidewalk space allows. By submitting the online registration form, the artist acknowledges that he/she understands and agrees with the following:
Artwork Area Size
Each artwork area is 6 x 6 ft. Spaces will be assigned upon receipt of the online registration form.
Artwork Requirement
Only the chalk provided may be used for the contest. No other materials, such as paint of any kind, markers, Sharpies, ink, Crayons, pencils, etc., are acceptable.
Artists may bring:
Chemical-free water bottles for blending colors
Artist sponge — (or old kitchen sponge) for blending
Paintbrushes of all sizes — grab anything you've got lying around
Masking tape — great for mosaics and creating a clean frame line around chalk art
Garden kneeling pad — to keep your knees comfortable as you work
No fixatives are allowed except for water-soluble hairspray.
Artwork Approval
All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing. No words or symbols intended as advertising may appear within the artwork. No copyright-protected images or commercial advertising will be accepted. No obscene, political, or racist imagery or words are allowed. Black Creek Arts Council reserves the sole right to decide appropriateness.
Rain or Inclement Weather
For the safety of all, the competition will be canceled by 9 a.m. on November 23 in the event of rain or inclement weather. No rain date is scheduled.
Release of Intellectual Property
By participating in the Holiday Chalk Walk, the artist allows the use of images of himself/herself and his/her artwork to be included during and after the event, including, but not limited to, sponsor websites, print media, and social media outlets.
