In this Creative Movement class for 7-8 year olds we will build strength and musicality with joyful expression through floor exercises, skips, runs and leaps. Set to classical music with themes of Greek myth, storytelling and nature’s wonders.

About the Teacher:

With over 35 years of dance experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Dance and Theater from Coker University, Leslie brings a rich artistic background to her Movement Meditations classes. She is certified in Isadora Duncan Dance Studies with the Isadora Duncan International Institute, NY. Leslie has performed nationally and internationally and is passionate about sharing the transformative power of movement with others. Through her teaching, she aims to inspire students to cultivate mindfulness, self-awareness and creativity.

About the Teacher:

Leslie Schleiger has over 35 years of dance experience. She began competing at Dance Arts Centre in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, training in jazz dance, tap, lyrical, ballet, kickline, and hip hop. Her small group competition teams won at both the Showbiz National Talent Regional and the premier Starpower National Talent Competition. Leslie furthered her dance education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Dance and Theater from Coker University. There she choreographed solo and duet works and stage-managed productions for both dance and theater programs at the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.

Leslie is certified in Isadora Duncan Dance Studies with Dr. Jeanne Bresciani, Artistic Director of The Isadora Duncan International Institute, New York (IDII). She choreographs and performs solo works with the IDII, and performs nationally and internationally with the Isadora Duncan International Institute Dancers. In 2019, Leslie performed in the IDII’s practicum, the “Delphic Preview” at Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies, in collaboration with the Ecumenical Delphic Union and the Committee for the Reinstatement of the Delphic Games. She produced and choreographed “Thy Will be Done” in collaboration with Hartsville Baptist Church, and performed in works by esteemed and award winning choreographers including Isadora Duncan, Dr. Jeanne Bresciani, Lori Belilove, and Lucky Plush Productions.

As a dance educator, she has incorporated movement lessons into K-8 schools and ballet classes for Darlington County homeschool students. Leslie is committed to inclusive, body positive dance programming that empowers dancers of all abilities in celebrating their unique movement.
