Handbuilding is the earliest forming method of pottery. Wares can be constructed by hand from coils of clay, combining flat slabs of clay, or pinching solid balls of clay. This 4-week series is designed for adults that have no prior experience. Students will learn basic handbuilding techniques and surface treatments to work created.

Dates & Times:

Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00pm

  • Session 1: May 7, 14, 21, and 28

  • Session 2: June 4, 11, 18, and 25

  • Session 3: July 9, 16, 23, and 30

Investment:

$200 (for each session) includes one 5lb bag of clay

About the Teacher:

Frankie J. Mixon is an SC Arts Commission visual arts fellow; Artist (specializing in pottery, clay sculptures, and mixed media); Classroom art teacher with a BA in art, two MA degrees in Elementary Education, and Reading with an emphasis in Elementary Education. Teaching philosophy: The study of art is an excellent way to promote creativity, self-esteem, and self-expression. EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL.
