Handbuilding is the earliest forming method of pottery. Wares can be constructed by hand from coils of clay, combining flat slabs of clay, or pinching solid balls of clay. This 4-week series is designed for adults that have no prior experience. Students will learn basic handbuilding techniques and surface treatments to work created.

Session 2: September 1, 8, 15, and 22
Session 3: October 6, 13, 20, and 27
Session 4: November 3, 10, 17, and 24

About the Teacher:
Frankie J. Mixon is an SC Arts Commission visual arts fellow; Artist (specializing in pottery, clay sculptures, and mixed media); Classroom art teacher with a BA in art, two MA degrees in Elementary Education, and Reading with an emphasis in Elementary Education.
